This letter is in response to the Oct. 22 article, ``26 pit bulls are removed from Norfolk home; 1 dies'' - another case of the pit bull media scare. It's a sad thing that the media still insists on going on witch hunts for the breed.
First of all, the report on the American pit bull terrier (APBT) never addresses if the dogs were registered or just mixed breed. This may not make a difference to back-yard breeders, but for the responsible owner who breeds registered APBTs for temperament, reliabity and companionship, this makes our work all in vain.
In the article, there is constant reference to the APBTs being attack dogs when, out of 26 dogs, the animal control officer said only one gave them any problems. Now this is a pure contradiction.
The publishing of these biased reports only goes to reinstill the fear the public has of these dogs.
