Annie Mae Jones, 93, of Route 1 died Oct. 30, 1996, in Sentara Nursing Center, Portsmouth.
She was a native of Suffolk and a member of Pleasant Plains Baptist Church, Winton.
Survivors include a son, Cleveland Newsome of Portsmouth; eight daughters, Nora Spearman of Jamaica, Rose Marie Murrell of Long Island, N.Y., Clemmie Wooldridge of San Diego, Calif., Clarine Manley of New York, N.Y., Janet Hasell of Brooklyn, N.Y., Evelyn Simmons of Ahoskie, Elsie Askew of Portsmouth and Yvonne Taylor of Cofield; and 38 grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Philippi Baptist Church, Cofield. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Ahoskie. Hunter's Funeral Home is in charge.
