TEXACO CASE IS NOT UNIQUE

About the Texaco lawsuit being brought by some black employees:

What a revelation it would be if every boardroom meeting had a hidden recorder, and then someone published the results. Every citizen of this country would be able to read firsthand about the systematic betrayal that is perpetrated on black Americans every day.

Texaco is only one of thousands of companies wreaking havoc on blacks in this country by suppressing advancement and economic gains, thereby perpetuating the idea of inferiority. This blatant act of prejudice has a domino effect that infiltrates every aspect of the decent quality of life that black Americans strive to attain.

Believe it or not, the odds of achieving success still are stacked against black Americans. The information that the public constantly sees and hears is one-sided. It makes it easier for people to say ``They don't want to learn,'' ``They don't want to work,'' ``They don't want to achieve.''

What is not constantly in front of the public are the many untold stories like the one now emerging from Texaco; loans they cannot get, jobs and promotions that are always out of reach; paying more for houses, cars and many other items just because they are black. Please don't kid yourselves into thinking that this doesn't happen today.
