Russell Willoughby, 93, died Nov. 10, 1996.
A retired aviation metalsmith with 30 years service at the Naval Air Station, Mr. Willoughby was a native of Ahoskie, N.C., and was predeceased by his wife, Clara Young Willoughby.
He was also a member of Oakdale Presbyterian Church of Norfolk and a past master of Kempsville Masonic Lodge (NU)196, Grice Commandery (NU)16, York Rite Bodies, Khedive Shrine Temple, Willis V. Fentress Masonic Lodge (NU)296. He also recently received his 50-year Masonic Lodge pin.
Survivors include his sons, Russell L. Willoughby of Virginia Beach and Mark K. Willoughby of Parker, Colo.; sisters, Jessie W. DeCamps of Chesapeake, Marion W. Latham of San Antonio, Texas, Gladys W. Menefee of Raleigh, N.C., and Claire W. Beatty of Richmond; brothers, Edward O. Willoughby Jr. of Suffolk and Carol C. Willoughby of Jersey City, N.J.; and two grandchildren.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk, by the Rev. Kenneth R. King and the Rev. Larry C. Miles. Masonic rites will be accorded at the grave by Willis V. Fentress Lodge (NU)296 and Kempsville Lodge (NU)196. Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, is in charge. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial donations may be made to Hope Haven Children's Home, 3000 North Landing Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23456.
