Dixie Felton Howerton, 79, of the 800 block of N. West St., died Nov. 11, 1996, in Roanoke Chowan Hospital.
Mrs. Howerton was born in Nash County, N.C., and was a member of Ahoskie First Baptist Church, Ahoskie. She attended East Carolina Teachers' College and was a graduate of Norfolk Business College. She was a retired loan teller for Wachovia Bank and an active volunteer for the Food Pantry and Meals on Wheals.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty H. Michael of Suffolk; a son, Lloyd V. ``Butch'' Howerton of Gilbert, Ariz.; a sister, Bessie F. Brown of Suffolk; a half-brother, Paul Sharp of Ahoskie; grandchildren, Scott and Carey Michael of Suffolk, and Buren and Shane Howerton of Arizona.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Dr. Jesse J. Croom. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the home. Memorial donations may be made to Ahoskie First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 649, Ahoskie, N.C. 27910 or to the Ahoskie Rescue Squad, P.O.
