PAUL D. POPLIN

Paul Decoteau Poplin, 65, of the 1500 block of Ohio Avenue, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1997, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.

He was the husband of Ella Clift Poplin and was a native of Savannah, Ga. He retired in 1969 from the U.S. Navy after 22 years and was also retired in 1992 after 20 years from Morale Welfare and Recreation Department at Little Creek Amphibious Base as assistant manager of the Boat and Camper Shop. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Great Neck Baptist Church and a trustee of the Norfolk Baptist Council.

In addition to his wife, Ella, he is survived by a daughter, Paula K. Marsh; and three grandchildren, Sara Marsh, David Marsh and Stephen Marsh, all of Virginia Beach.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Great Neck Baptist Church, 1020 General Jackson Drive at Inlynnview Road, Virginia Beach, 23454, by the Rev. William L. ``Bill'' Kincaid. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in Maestas Funeral Home, Baltic Avenue Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the building fund of the Great Neck Baptist Church.
