Elizabeth W. Turney, 85, of the 900 block of Gene Crescent, died Jan. 1, 1997, in a local hospital.
Born in Ostella, Tenn., she was the widow of William M. Turney. She was a school teacher for the Chesapeake Public School System and retired after 22- 1/2 years. She was a member of Deep Creek United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Susanne T. Rosenbaum of Chesapeake, Bettie T. Lester and Barbara T. Smith, both of Newport News; two sisters, Marene Gugelman of Nashville, Tenn., Annie Ruth Tate, of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Ollice B. Wise of Winchester, Tenn.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Bradford L. Phillips in Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Chapel. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m.
