Jessie Elizabeth Edwards Beale, 80, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997, in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Branchville Baptist Church. She was the mother of the late Shirley B. Robertson and Lawson D. Beale Jr. and the daughter of the late Owen and Elizabeth Bristow Edwards.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Lawson D. Beale; a daughter, Patricia Anne Beale Lynch and her husband, James, of Ebony, Va.; three sons, G. Durwood Beale of Branchville, Franklin Edward Beale and his wife, Linda, of Tulsa, Okla., and Melvin D. Beale and his wife, Ann, of Newport Beach, Calif.; two grandsons, Henry and David Robertson; five granddaughters, Vanessa L. Godwin, Paula L. Cosenza, Bridgette, Donnis and Emily Beale; and a great-grandson, Patrick Godwin.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins, by the Rev. Jeff Hollingsworth. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Memorial donations may be made to the Boykins Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad.
