Gordon Ray Spicer, 71, of the 500 block of Battlefield Blvd. South, died Monday, Jan. 6, 1997, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mr. Spicer was born in Goldsboro, N.C., the son of the late Willie and Pearl Spicer. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Spicer retired from Nu-Car Carriers Inc. in 1981 after 28 1/2 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Lucile C. Spicer; his three daughters, Linda S. Forbes of Chesapeake, Karen S. Holland of Kodiak, Alaska, and Doris F. Spicer of Chesapeake; his sister, Frances S. Caudle of Angier, N.C.; his three brothers, James Morris Spicer of Chesapeake, Shurwood K. Spicer of Lynchburg and Paul F. Spicer of Chesapeake; and his four grandsons.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
