THOMAS D. OWEN SR.

Thomas Daniel Owen Sr., 75, of the 400 block of Sycamore Road, died Jan. 8, 1997, in a Norfolk hospital.

Mr. Owen, a native of Yale, Va., retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as general foreman of Shop 31. He was a member and deacon at Court Street Baptist Church. He was a member of Elks Lodge 82, Loyal Order of Moose 898, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Emily Deans Branon Owen; a daughter, Barbara Lynn Owen Kenas of Portsmouth; two sons, Thomas Daniel Owen Jr. of Portsmouth, and James Patrick Owen of Charlottesville; two brothers, Norris Owen of Drewryville and Kenneth Owen of Portsmouth; six grandchildren, Matthew, Becky and Jonathan Kenas, Danny Owen, and Adam and Reid Owen.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Court Street Baptist Church by Dr. L. Wilbur Kersey. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth. Memorial donations may be made to Court Street Baptist Church, 447 Court St., Portsmouth, Va. 23704.
