Alvin H. Hecht, 74, died Jan. 6, 1997, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
He was born Feb. 10, 1922, in Norfolk, the son of the late Paul and Bessie Balser Heck. He was retired from the garment industry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Littman Hecht; two sisters, Mollie Miller and Frances McGlough; and two cousins, Abraham and Ruth Abramson.
He is survived by two sons, Lee J. Hecht and his wife, Lisa, of Pawley's Island, S.C., and Franklin A. Hecht and his wife, Anne, of Latham, N.Y.; grandchildren, Amy, Daniel, Andrea, Rebecca and Timothy Hecht and Cameron Burroughs; two sisters, Lois Kerpleman and Rosie Herndorf, both of Norfolk; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Altmeyer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23513.
