LESLIE B. ALEXANDER

Leslie B. ``Les'' Alexander, 92, of the 2100 block of Benefit Road, died Jan. 6, 1997.

Born in Columbia, N.C., he was the widower of Edna Alexander and a member of Baptist Rock Baptist Church, Chesapeake, and was chairman of the Deacon Board and superintendent of Sunday School. He was a retired truck driver for Richmond Cedar Works after 35 years service.

Survivors include three daughters, Mamie Johnson, Mable Alexander, Gloria Smith, all of Chesapeake; three sons, Herman Alexander, Horace Alexander, Foster Alexander, all of Chesapeake; a sister, Ella Hines of Jacksonville, N.C.; a brother, James Thomas Alexander Jr. of Washington, D.C.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends and a daughter-in-law. He was predeceased by five children, Minnie Alexander, Mary Alexander, Dorothy Alexander Eason, Thomas Alexander and James Alexander.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Baptist Rock Baptist Church by the Rev. James Smith. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Metropolitan Funeral Service is handling arrangements. Family and friends will assemble at 2129 Benefit Road, Chesapeake, at noon Friday for the procession to the church. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
