RAIFORD N. SILAS SR.

Raiford Neal Silas Sr., 69, of the 1700 block of Canvasback Court, died Jan. 8, 1997, in a Chesapeake hospital.

Born in Bainbridge, Ga., he was a member of Pembroke Manor United Church of Christ. He was a retired sales manager for Cassco Ice Co. and a member of Georgia Masonic Lodge AF&AM, past president of G.M.R.A. and member of Tidewater Food Dealers of Virginia.

Survivors include his wife, Maggie Silas; three daughters, Jan Strickland of Chesapeake, Louise Stone of Woodbridge, Va., Robin Strickland of Rocky Mount, N.C.; a son, Raiford Neal Silas Jr. of Indian Trail, N.C.; two brothers, Durward Silas of Donalsonville, Ga., Bill Silas of St. Petersburg, Fla.; eight grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Tammy Wakefield of Virginia Beach, Deborah Teicher of Coral Springs, Fla.; two stepsons, Chuck Frank of Norfolk, Bill Frank of Portsmouth. He was predeceased by a son, Ricky Silas.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, by the Rev. Bruce Smith. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
