Joseph Donald Smith, 69, of the 100 block of S. Main St., died Jan. 8, 1997, in Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
Born in Hertford County, he was a member of Winton Baptist Church and was a retired mechanic for Easco Aluminum.
Survivors include his wife, Dollie Blowe Smith; four daughters, Donna S. Manley of Winton, Jo Anne S. Godwin of Winton, Master Sgt. Bonnie S. Hernandez of Cheyenne, Wyo., Lorrie S. Barnes of Murfreesboro; three sisters, Janie Jones of Powellsville, N.C., Bertha Smith, Alice Taylor, both of Winton; four brothers, Withey Smith of Tacoma, Wash., James E. Smith of Winton, Lloyd Smith of Conway, N.C., William Smith of Chapel Hill, N.C.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Stephen Moore. Burial will be in Winton Baptist Church Cemetery, Winton. Family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
