Dare County has begun the construction of a new canine kennel at the Animal Shelter site on Driftwood Drive in Manteo.
This facility will replace the previous dog housing structure, which had become substandard.
Animal Shelter and Animal Control services will continue as usual. All canines handled will be temporarily housed at the Kill Devil Hills Animal Shelter.
Citizens with requests for services, inquiries about lost or found dogs, or adoptions should contact the shelter in Manteo at 473-1101, Ext. 148.
Completion of the new canine facility is slated for early spring.
