JOSEPH J. PAIGE

Joseph John Paige, 71, died Jan. 8, 1997, in a local hospital.

A retired major in the U.S. Marine Corps, Mr. Paige also was a former employee at TRACOR Inc., Virginia Beach. He was a native of Butte, Mont., and a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam, winning the Good Conduct Medal with four stars, the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, U.N. Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal with one star, Korean Service Medal with three stars, Unit Letter of Appreciation, Navy Unit Commendation with two stars, Presidential Unit Citation, Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Vietnam Service Medal with seven stars, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Commendation Medal with Combat ``V,'' Republic Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation Cross of Gallantry, Pistol Expert Badge .45-caliber.

Survivors include his wife, Annie H. Paige; daughter, Patricia Paige Tackett and her husband, Kenny Tackett of Wernersville, Pa.; three sons, Randall G. Paige and his wife, Melody, of Hartland, Mich., Gary D. Paige of W. Columbia, S.C., and Craig R. Paige and his wife, Cheryl Paige of Chesapeake; six grandchildren, Paul G. Paige and his wife, Liz, of Madison Heights, Mich., Teresa P. Martin and her husband, Ray, of Hartland and Adam M. Paige of Hartland, Sean Paige of Jacksonville, Fla., Garrick Paige of Columbia and Shannon Tackett of Chesapeake; a great-grandchild, Philip Martin of Hartland.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, by Fr. Edward L. Richardson. Burial and graveside service will be in Arlington National Cemetery at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 1997. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Davis Corner Rescue Squad, 4672 Haygood Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23455.
