A security guard shot and injured a man Thursday evening, foiling an attempted armed robbery of a gas station.
Police said two men came to the Spur station in the 2500 block of Hampton Blvd. about 7:30 p.m. One man stayed at the door as a lookout while the other announced the robbery and jumped a counter. He was apparently pointing a gun at the clerk when a security officer in the store confronted him.
The robber was shot in an arm and in his side. He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
No one else was hurt, and the other robber got away.
