Mabel O'Reilly, 37, of Avon was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with carrying a small quantity of crack cocaine in her car.
Dare County Deputy Sheriff Rodney Midgett said officers pulled O'Reilly over as she was driving through Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge on N.C. 12 at 4 p.m.
Midgett said the sheriff's office had earlier received information alleging that O'Reilly was carrying crack. After deputies got her consent to search her vehicle, they found what Midgett characterized as a ``small'' amount of the narcotic.
O'Reilly was charged with felonious possession and released on $10,000 bail.
