WILLIAM H. WINDLEY JR.

William Henry ``Buddy'' ``Bill'' Windley Jr., of the 1800 block of Burson Drive, died Jan. 8, 1997, in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth.

A retired World War II veteran and an employee of Colonial Stores for 20 years, Mr. Windley was a native of Pantego, Beaufort County, N.C., and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Chesapeake. He was a deacon, male chorus member, trustee and formerly treasurer of the church. He was an Army veteran of World War II as a corporal and won the Bronze Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

Survivors include his wife, Odell Bracey Windley; six daughters, Gwendolyn D. Nixon of Chesapeake, Vanessa D. Williams of Portsmouth, Pamela D. Fayton of Dayton, Ohio, Virgena D. Windley of Chesapeake and Angela D. Windley of Chesapeake and Beverly D. Windley of Chesapeake; four sons, Frederick C. Windley, Michael L. Windley of Chesapeake, William H. Windley III of Annandale, Va., and Duane S. Windley of Chesapeake; three sisters, Loreno Windley of Washington, N.C., Flossie M. Wilson of Texas and Cottie Allen of New York; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his mother.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Macedonia Baptist Church, 1705 Shipyard Road, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Dr. George E. Davis Jr. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. today. The family will assemble at 1860 Burson Drive, Chesapeake, at 12:15 p.m. Fitchett Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
