WILLIAM D. SCALF

William D. ``Don'' Scalf, 49, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 1997, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mr. Scalf was city manager of Chesapeake from 1984 to 1987. He was city manager of Kingston, 1972-1975; Pigeon Forge, 1975-1980; and Macon, Ga., 1981-1984. He was a published writer and member of the Tennessee Mountain Writers.

Survivors include a son, Joseph D. ``Joey'' Scalf, and a daughter, Casey B. Scalf, both of Chesapeake; his father, Clarence Leon Scalf of Kingston; his twin sister, Donna D. Botkin of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; best friend, Alan L. Floyd of Minneapolis; and two nephews, Andy Botkin of Oakdale, Tenn., and Adam Botkin of Kingston. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Scalf.

The body is at Kyker Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Simmons officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Kingston Memorial Gardens.
