Elmer L. Dozier Sr., 60, of the 3000 block of Charity Neck Road, died Jan. 11, 1997, in Virginia Beach.
Mr. Dozier was born in Princess Anne County and was a Baptist. He was retired from the Army and had served in the 2nd Infantry Division. He was a member of Tidewater React, American Legion Post 0141, the Virginia Association of the Blind, VFW Post 15048 and the Moose Lodge. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Dianne Dozier; two daughters, Judy Robertson of North Carolina and Wanda Dozier of Virginia Beach; two sons, Elmer L. Dozier Jr. and Edward L. Royals, both of Virginia Beach; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Marty Dozier.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by the Rev. Earl Stanley. Burial will be in Charity United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
