LORETTA H. STERMER

Loretta Hise Stermer died Sunday, Jan. 12, 1997, in Williamsburg Community Hospital.

A native of Highland County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Charles Hise and Margaret Hise. Mrs. Stermer was a member of St. Olaf Catholic Church, Norge. She was a registered nurse, having worked for several years at Williamsburg Community Hospital and more recently at Riverside. She was a graduate of Thomas Nelson School of Nursing. She was a past president of the Suburban Junior Woman's Club, Norfolk. Long active in environmental concerns, she initiated the phone book recycling program in Tidewater and was active in the Young Audiences program.

She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Stermer Jr.; a son, Robert L. Stermer III of Williamsburg; three daughters, Barbara Sherman of Williamsburg, Delores Washburn of San Diego, Calif., Tracy Leigh Mahan of Orlando, Fla.; her mother, Margaret Caricofe of Staunton, Va.; two sisters, Barbara Sprouse and Shirley Rohr, both of Staunton; and six grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in St. Olaf Catholic Church by the Rev. John J. Wagner and Dr. Donna Young Whitley. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services. A reception will immediately follow. Interment will be private. Bucktrout of Williamsburg is handling arrangements.
