A Chesapeake man died Sunday night after his pickup truck crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer in Deep Creek.
Darrell Gilliam, 38, of the 2900 block of Mintwood Road, was pronounced dead at Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, according to police spokeswoman Elizabeth Jones.
The tractor-trailer driver was trying to change lanes when his rig was struck from behind by Gilliam's Ford pickup truck shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday, Jones said.
The tractor-trailer truck was traveling west on Route 13 toward Bowers Hill near the intersection with Route 17, Jones said.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured and will not be charged.
