Chesapeake and Suffolk will hold a public meeting tonight to give property owners information on a new land survey that will re-establish the boundary line between the two cities.
The border, which varies from map to map, has caused confusion for residents in western Chesapeake and northern Suffolk. Some residents pay taxes in one city and pick up their mail in another. The ambiguous line has also caused problems for developers, who aren't sure which city their projects would be located in.
Chesapeake and Suffolk agreed in September to share the cost of a survey to draw a precise line. The survey will cost from $35,000 to $50,000.
Tonight's meeting - the second and final hearing - will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Driver Elementary School in Suffolk.
