Melvin Lee ``Joc-ko'' Coleman Sr., of the 2800 block of Kimball Terrace, died Jan. 16, 1997, in his residence.
A native of Norfolk, he was a retired operator for Norfolk and Western Railroad with more than 40 years service. He was a U.S. Army veteran and the son of the late Edith Drew Coleman and James Coleman.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Coleman; a daughter, Rosa Washington; two sons, Nathan Coleman and Melvin L. Coleman Jr.; two brothers, Russell Coleman and Leroy Coleman; a sister-in-law, Hazel Coleman; five grandchildren, Shannon, Kamilah, Ciarra, Nathan Jr. and Marcus; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday in the chapel of Graves Funeral Home by Dr. James Elmoore Sr. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive guests at the residence. ILLUSTRATION: Personal photo
