Southgate L. Ives, 75, of the 5400 block of Old Providence Road, died Jan. 18, 1997.
Mr. Ives was born in Princess Anne County and was an active member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, Chesapeake. He was retired from Naval Air Station Oceana. He had served as an intelligence agent with the U.S. War Department and was a Coast Guard veteran. He was the son of the late Tennyson A. Ives Sr. and Minnie Mothershead Ives.
Survivors include a sister, Louise I. Hargrove of Virginia Beach; two brothers, William Jesse Ives of Virginia Beach and Randolph Burfoot Ives of Chesapeake. He was preceded in death by a brother, Tennyson A. Ives Jr.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Ben Goggin. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
