EUNICE G. OVERMAN

Eunice Goodwin Overman, 93, of the 1500 block of Rivershore Road died Monday, Jan. 20, 1997, at the residence of her son, Elliott ``Pete'' Overman in Hertford.

She was a native of Pasquotank County, N.C., and a retired teacher of Latin and English at Elizabeth City High School. She graduated from Greensboro College with a B.A. degree in 1925, was past president of the George Durant Chapter, Colonial Dames XVII Century, past member of Business and Professional Women's Club, a member of the N.C. Education Association, former sponsor and chaperone of the Elizabeth City High School Band, and was elected a distinguished alumna of Greensboro College in 1986.

Mrs. Overman was the daughter of the late W. Ben and Rose Parsons Goodwin and the widow of W.J. ``Ham'' Overman Sr.

Survivors include two sons, W.J. ``Jack'' Overman Jr. and his wife, Lou, of Manteo, N.C., and Elliott ``Pete'' Overman and his wife, Grace, of Hertford; a sister, Mrs. Eleanor G. Marshall, and a brother, Ben H. Goodwin Sr., both of Elizabeth City; two grandsons; and three great-grandsons.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in New Hollywood Cemetery. The family will be at the residence of her sister, Mrs. Eleanor Marshall, 1105 W. Church St., Elizabeth City. The family requests that flowers be omitted, but memorial donations may be made to Greensboro College General Scholarship Fund, 815 W. Market St., Greensboro, N.C. 27421 or Christ Episcopal Church, Elizabeth City. Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City, is in charge.
