MILAH P. MEEKINS

Milah Peele Meekins, 93, died Sunday Jan. 19, 1997, in her residence.

Mrs. Meekins was born in Hatteras and was a retired teacher in Dare County Public Schools. She was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church, Ladies Bible Class, Holland Wescott Sunday School Class, Manteo Garden Club, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, retired teacher's association and women of the Rotary.

She was the daughter of the late Barnny and Fanny Burrus Peele and the wife of the late Chauncey St. Oswald Meekins.

Surviving are nieces and nephews, Clara Scott of Norfolk, Margaret A. Stowe of Raleigh, Leslie D. Austin of Norfolk, Wilbur N. Austin of Wanchese and Bernie N. Austin of Manteo.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bethany United Methodist Church by the Rev. Sidney Epperson. Burial will be in Roanoke Island Memorial Gardens, Manteo. Memorials may be made to the Bethany United Methodist Church Building Fund, Wanchese. Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo, is in charge.
