JOSEPH A. BOROODY

Capt. Joseph A. Boroody, 69, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997.

Captain Boroody was a native of Portsmouth. After attending King's Point, he served in the Merchant Marine, U.S. Navy and retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve as a captain after 30 years. He also enjoyed a successful career in the commercial shipping industry with International Terminal Operations. He was a member of the Retired Officers Club of Mathews and a lifetime member of Naval Reserve Association.

He is survived by his wife, Esther Boroody and three children.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church, Mathews. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday in Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home with a prayer service at 8 p.m.
