Mildred Gilliam Basnight, 82, died Wednesday Jan. 22, 1997, in Nansemond Point Convalescent Center, Suffolk.
She was a homemaker and a member of Benn's United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Margaret G. Atchison of Alexandria, Lois G. Myers of Hampton; two brothers, Bill Gilliam of W. Palm Beach, Fla., Quincy Gilliam of Logan, Ohio; several nieces and nephews including Charles Basnight.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Luke's Memorial Park, Smithfield, by the Rev. Fred Breeden. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today in Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, and at other times at the residence of Mrs. Mamie G. Turner, 15352 New Towne Haven Lane, Carrollton, and suggests memorial contributions may be made to Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 97, Smithfield, Va. 23431.
