Elfriede ``Frieda'' Purvis, 73, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 1997.
A native of Dusseldorf, Germany, a former 30-year resident of Virginia Beach and a Yorktown resident for the past five years, Mrs. Purvis worked for 28 years as a waitress at Charlie's Seafood Restaurant, Virginia Beach. She was a member of Crooks Memorial United Methodist Church, Yorktown, and a member of the Patti Olsen Circle and Myrtle Soles Bible Study Class and a member of the United Methodist Women's Club and former member of the Baylake United Methodist Church, Virginia Beach.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Purvis, and granddaughter, Susan Keith. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Susie and Paul Gregory of Yorktown and Heidi and Eddie Keith of Ellisville, Miss.; sister, Else Huissel of Germany; and a brother, Rudi Lemmerhirt of Germany; three grandchildren, Shelly Gregory and Paul Gregory IV of Yorktown and Eddie Keith Jr. of Ellisville.
A funeral will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday in Crooks Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. David Hampton. The family will receive friends at their home following the service. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Rosewood Cemetery, Virginia Beach. Memorials may be made to the Crooks Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund, 204 Cook Road, Yorktown, Va. 23692. Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, is in charge.
