Ishmael Ray ``Jabo'' Edwards, 76, of the 13300 block of Poor House Road, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 1997, in James River Convalescent Center.
He was a native of Isle of Wight County and a retired farmer. Mr. Edwards was a member of Isle of Wight Christian Church and Isle of Wight Hunt Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Addlee Ford Edwards; four sons, Bobby Ray Edwards, Michael V. Edwards and David C. Edwards, all of Windsor, and Albert C. ``Bill'' Edwards of Columbia, S.C.; three sisters, Ida Bell E. Wells and Willie E. Jones, both of Suffolk, Maggie E. Jones of Smithfield; two brothers, Robert G. Edwards of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., and Joseph Lee Edwards of Smithfield; 10 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, by the Rev. Joseph Talley. Burial will follow in Woodland Church Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home and suggests memorial contributions may be made to Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 97, Smithfield, Va. 23431.
