Garland F. Miles Sr., 81, of the 1000 block of Dartford Mews died Jan. 23, 1997, in a Norfolk hospital.
A retired employee of the Norfolk and Portsmouth Belt Line Railroad, he was a native of Guilford County, N.C., and a member of Kings Grant Baptist Church. He was a member of Ocean View Masonic Lodge No. 335, AF&AM: Scottish Rite Bodies: Khedive Temple.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl P. Miles; daughter, Jeanne M. Parker and her husband, Clayton, of Virginia Beach; son, Garland F. Miles Jr. and his wife, Marsha, of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Elaine Saunders and Doris Bunch; two brothers, Paul Miles and Hollis Miles; three grandchildren, Lee P. Parker, Carol J. Parker and David R. Miles; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, by the Rev. Daniel J. Cooper and Suzie Spedden, associate minister. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Masonic rites will be accorded at the grave.
