The Dare County Arts Council is accepting entries for the 19th annual Frank Stick Memorial Art Show on Wednesday and Thursday. The show is the Outer Banks' largest showcase of the work of professional and nonprofessional local artists.
Cash prizes will be offered to winners in Merit ($50) and Excellence ($100) categories. In addition, a $50 People's Choice award winner will be selected by public ballot. Carl Billingsley, a sculptor from Greenville, N.C., and Frederick N. Jones, a painter from High Point, N.C., will judge the show.
The show is open to all artists, age 18 and older, who are residents of Dare County or who are members of the Dare County Arts Council. Artists can join the Arts Council at the time of delivery. There is a nonrefundable fee of $15 per artist ($10 for council members).
A special invitation-only preview reception for artists, DCAC members and show supporters will be held Feb. 1 from 7 to 9 p.m. The show will open to the public Feb. 2 at Glen Eure's Ghost Fleet Gallery in Nags Head. It will run until Feb. 21.
