ARCHITECTURE
Anne B. Evers, senior architect and a director of McKinney & Co., has moved from Ashland to the Williamsburg office. Also, Frances G. Davey was named a CAD operator for the company's architectural department in Williamsburg.
BANKING
Kendall S. Gross and Nancy L. Smithwick were promoted to vice presidents at Central Fidelity. Gross currently serves as the manager of the utility staff for the retail administration group. She was elected an assistant vice president in 1993. Smithwick currently serves as branch manager for the Kempsville office in Virginia Beach. She was elected an assistant vice president in 1993.
CHAMBERS
Connie W. Long, a 10-year veteran of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, was promoted to vice president, membership and organizational development. She will be responsible for membership recruitment and retention programs, membership and advertising sales and the volunteer membership drive. She was most recently vice president, communications.
Also, John P. Matson received the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce's Chairman's Award. Matson, who is vice chairman, economic development for the chamber, is executive vice president and regional executive for Signet Bank. He is also chairman of Forward Hampton Roads, the chamber's economic development division.
EDUCATION
Terri Giles was named admissions director of Cooper Career Institute in Virginia Beach and in West Palm Beach, Fla. She was previously admissions manager of Computer Dynamics Institute in Virginia Beach.
HEALTH CARE
Dr. Paul W. Braunstein Jr. has joined Drs. Laurence W. Enderson III, Thomas G. Clifford Jr. and J. Bradford Doxey of Southeastern Surgical Associates in the practice of thoracic and general surgery. Braunstein was with Virginia Beach Surgery LTD.
LAW
Glen M. Robertson was named a member of Payne, Gates, Farthing & Radd. He joined the firm as an associate in 1995 and concentrates in civil litigation with an emphasis on personal injury, construction, intellectual property, unfair competition and employment cases.
MUSEUMS
State Sen. Richard J. Holland of Windsor was elected to succeed Stuart W. Connock of Richmond as chairman of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation Board of Trustees. Former Sen. Hunter B. Andrews of Hampton, who led the foundation during 1986-1990, was named chairman emeritus.
Also, the foundation appointed Barbara A. Sugarman coordinator of volunteer services. Most recently, she was a consultant and trainer to numerous organizations, including the Virginia Office of Volunteerism and the American Bible Society.
Also, Suzanne C. Perl was named an education officer in the statewide outreach program. She will teach hands-on history programs about Jamestown and Yorktown in schools around the state. She previously worked in the visitor services department.
ORGANIZATIONS
Tuffy Butler of Tarbutton Associates was elected president for the Norfolk Hotel and Motel Association. Also, Kirit Amin of the Tides Inn was elected vice-president.
RETAIL
Frederick C. Coble was promoted to senior vice president of finance at Dollar Tree Stores. He joined the Norfolk-based retailer in 1989 and was promoted to vice president, controller in 1991.
REAL ESTATE
Garman-Chandler Commercial named Ron Biesecker senior vice president for commercial and industrial sales and leasing activities of the company. He was a commercial real estate specialist.
Vic Esposito was named vice president of the commercial division at Re/Max Central. He was formerly associate vice president for Long & Foster's commercial division, South Eastern Virginia area.
Laura Wenslaff was named vice president of property management with Covington & Associates Realtors. She was formerly assistant vice president and principal broker with Community Group in Virginia Beach.
Also, Ray Duell was named sales manager/managing broker with Covington & Associates. He was formerly a sales manager with Larasan Realty and vice president of Re/Max Central Realty in Virginia Beach.
SERVICE
Julie T. Garth, a former sales director, was named president of ATG Language Solutions in Norfolk. Barbara C. Carroll, a former language instructor, was named vice president of ATG. The company, which opened last October, provides interpretation and translation of foreign languages and also offers language instruction and cross-cultural training.
STOCK BROKERAGE
Edward George ``Ted'' Kaufman was named an investment broker at Scott & Stringfellow in Norfolk. He previously worked at Virginia Investors in Norfolk.
