I've been reading lately of the renovation process in downtown Norfolk. In the Jan. 18 MetroNews section, Mayor Fraim was quoted as saying, ``We are going to be relying heavily on our friends in the private sector to carry the development forward.''
It seems to me that Mayor Fraim has been heavily involved with prospectives on attaining an NHL team with George Shinn. Why not ask Mr. Shinn to help contribute to the better way of life in the NHL's proposed host city? It would help the taxpayers of the city, and other private businesses, with the burden of renovation, and it would shine a better light on the North Carolina resident that he intends to keep an expansion team, if it's awarded, in this region.
Donations of Mr. Shinn's time and money to this community would help put to rest any uneasiness of his long-term arrangements with a major-league team.
