``Brain drain at education'' (editorial, Jan. 16) reached a wrong conclusion. It gives an excellent argument against giving the Virginia Beach School Board taxing authority. Unlimited tax money could easily lead to all school districts bidding against each other to raise salaries to get or keep administrators.
Higher salaries do not necessarily mean better performance. Virginia Beach had perfect examples in the recent past. Since no one seems satisfied with the present education system and its results, perhaps it would be a good idea to let the ``second string'' show what it has to offer.
Get rid of half of the administrators now cluttering the school day with paperwork, and divide the savings among the teachers who are trying to do the real job - educating children.
