John Laurence Whitaker died Jan. 28, 1997, in Stockbridge, Ga.
Larry, beloved husband of Marguerite Ahearn Whitaker, is also survived by his mother and dad; grandmother, Louise Williams; two sisters, Marcia Whitaker Webster and her husband, Carl, of Chesapeake and Helen Wynne Whitaker of Portsmouth; a niece, Carla Webster, and a nephew, Andrew Webster.
A funeral will be held in his home church, Cradock Presbyterian, at 11 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Richard W. Lovingood. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Friday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Contributions may be made to Cradock Presbyterian Church CIF. He fought the good fight, stayed the course and kept the faith.
