Helen Boswell Ames Head, 80, of the 200 block of River Oaks Lane, died Monday, Jan. 27, 1997.
Mrs. Head was born in Chase City, Va., and became a Smithfield resident in 1934. A member of Christ Episcopal Church, she was a former schoolteacher of Isle of Wight and Smithfield schools and a past state president of the Virginia Dental Auxiliary. She was an avid golfer and bridge player.
Survivors include her husband, John Loren Head; Dr. and Mrs. J. Wilson Ames Jr. of Smithfield, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Frucci of Elkins, N.H., and Mr. and Mrs. William Bachand of Cape Cod, Mass.; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Christ Episcopal Church, Smithfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church or a favorite charity. Pretlow and Chapman Funeral Home is in charge.
