Mr. Lonnie S. ``Tug'' Sumner, 61, died Saturday Feb. 1, 1997, in Duke Hospital, Durham.
Mr. Sumner was retired magistrate in Northampton County and owned Jackson Barber Shop for many years. He was a member of Jackson Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He was a member of Jackson Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Betsy Vinson Sumner; a son, Jeff Sumner of the home; a sister, Mattie S. Morgan of Raleigh; five brothers, James C. ``Sug'' Sumner of Charleston, S.C., C.L. ``Hun'' Sumner and Ted ``Pig'' Sumner, David ``Tiny'' Sumner, all of Conway, Leroy ``Bay'' Sumner of Covington, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Jackson Baptist Church by the Rev. Joe McLean. Burial will follow at Jackson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Jackson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorial contributions may be made to Jackson Baptist Church.
