Retired Navy Lt. Cmdr. James B. Jackson, 58, died Jan. 31, 1997 in Norfolk.
Born in Florence, Ala., he retired as a lieutenant commander of the U.S. Navy and also worked for Delex Systems Inc. He was a member of the local chapter of the M.G. Midget Auto Club; graduate of the Naval Academy in 1962; and also received a degree from the post graduate school in Monterey, Calif. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam. Mr. Jackson was the son of Merle L. Keenum of Florence, Ala., and the late James Neal Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine M. Jackson; a daughter, Elizabeth Jackson Vincelette of Virginia Beach; a son, Harold Wayne Jackson of Virginia Beach; a sister, Ann Collier of Mobile, Ala.; three brothers, Lane Jackson and Roger Jackson, both of Florence, Hal Jackson of Atlanta; and a grandson, Jackson Paul Vincelette of Virginia Beach. He was predeceased by a brother, William Gene Jackson.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Little Creek Amphibious Base Chapel by retired Navy Capt. Thomas Hiers, chaplain. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday to receive friends. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
