Hazel Sessoms Parker, 88, of Route 4, died Feb. 1, 1997, in Roanoke Chowan Hospital.
Born in Hertford County, N.C., she was the widow of James Otis Parker Sr. She was a retired comptroller for Woodard and Lothrop, Washington, D.C, where she was a member of the 20 Year Club. She was also a member of Mount Rainer Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary Roanoke Chowan Hospital.
Survivors include six daughters, Kathy Friedman and Ruth Baker of Hyattsville, Md., Mollie Kiess of Annapolis, Md., Beulah Shanks of Willoughby, Ohio, Annie Dunbar of Boonsboro, Md., and Phyllis Schweicker of Charlotte, N.C.; three sons, James O. Parker Jr. of Crofton, Md., Franklin D. Parker of Warrenton, Va., and Michael A. Parker of Lusby, Md.; 32 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Robert May. Family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, and will assemble at the funeral home at noon Monday prior to the services.
