ADLINE STOKES

Adline Stokes, 83, of the 900 block of Darren Drive, died Jan. 31, 1997, in Maryview Hospital.

A native of Georgia, she was a retired housekeeper for Harper's Hospital, Detroit, Mich. She was a member of Fourth Baptist Church, Portsmouth, and its Sunday School department.

Survivors include a sister, Emma T. Chambliss of Portsmouth; a brother, David W. Taylor of Norfolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Fourth Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Charles W. Beamon. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing will begin at noon Monday in Corprew Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
