Carrie D. Overton, 88, of the 1500 block of Effingham St., died Jan. 30. 1997, in Maryview Hospital.
Born in Hertford, N.C., she was the widow of Elihue W. Overton and was a past member of Third Baptist Church, Portsmouth.
Survivors include six daughters, Elsie L. Harvey, Gladys C. Eaton, Mary M. Casterlow, Emma N. Slayton and June D. Eaton, all of Portsmouth, Edna M. Blount of Chesapeake; 24 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren; and a cousin, Carolyn Hunter; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Corprew Funeral Home Chapel by Bishop Anthony Moses. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing at the funeral home will begin at noon today. The family will be at 1306 Green St., Portsmouth, and will assemble there for the procession to the funeral home.
