In response to the Jan. 22 article, ``Teachers want respect, not more work'':
What ever happened to the respect for taxpayers when it comes to an honest day's pay for an honest day's work? Would someone please do the math that would tell us ``dumb'' taxpayers how much we have been taken for over the past several decades, paying for 200 days' work and only getting 190 out of the teachers?
I am sure that this will be remembered on Election Day if things are not accounted for properly. Where has the money gone, and why is it still going? Would the School Board pay a contractor all of the cost to build a school if he then left off the cafeteria or the gymnasium?
I would think that it would be as illegal to do that as it should be to pay teachers for work they have not performed.
