Council H. Calhoun, 77, of the 300 block of Velva Drive died Feb. 7, 1997, in a local hospital.
A retired ironworker, he was a member of Local No. 79 and a Greensboro, N.C., native.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pauline B. Calhoun; son, David Taylor of Doylestown, Pa.; three sisters, Lois Phibbs, Ora Stanley and Dorothy Oldham, all of Greensboro; brother, Paul Calhoun of Greensboro; granddaughter, Ashleigh Princess Taylor of Chesapeake; four nephews, Kenneth Bell of Greensboro, Dwaine Weeks of Chesapeake, James Weeks of Newport News and Larry Oldham of Danville, Va.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, by the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Chesapeake Cancer Center.
