Joel David Kretzer, 39, of Coree Trail, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 1997, in Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
He was a native of Portsmouth and was a carpenter. He was a member of the Faith Pentecostal Church, where he played the harmonica. He was the son of Mary Jo Justice and Harold Lloyd Kretzer Sr. of Portsmouth and the husband of Sherry Dawn Nixon Kretzer of Edenton.
Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Angela Dawn Kretzer of Edenton; a son, Timothy David Kretzer of Edenton; three sisters, Goldie Young of Chesapeake, Mary Louise Terwilliger of Warren, Ohio, and Teresa Young of Portsmouth; two brothers, Harold Kretzer Jr. of Richmond and Gary Kretzer of Edenton; and grandmother, Gladys Kretzer of Grayson, Ky.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Danny Gurganus. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends in Evans Funeral Home today from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the church, Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church Memorial Fund, 1614 Virginia Road, Edenton, N.C. 27932.
