Rafaela Ruiz, 89, died Feb. 8, 1997, in Maryview Nursing Care Center.
Mrs. Ruiz, a native of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, was the widow of Jose Ruiz. She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Manuel Ruiz. She was a member of St. Therese's Catholic Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Haydee R. Davenport of Atlanta; a son, Henry Ruiz of Virginia Beach; a sister, Sunta Varona of Virginia Beach; and three generations of grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth, by the Rev. James Griffin. Entombment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Mausoleum, Suffolk. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Therese's Catholic Church.
