Thomas Bernard Callahan, 86, of the 4900 block of Johnson Ave., died Saturday, Feb. 8, 1997, in his residence.
A native of Williamson, W.Va., he was retired from the Navy. He was also retired as a security officer from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and The Pines. A veteran of World War II and Korea, Mr. Callahan was a member of Fleet Reserve Association.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth N. Callahan; a daughter, Robin K. Dodd of Portsmouth; two sons, Gary W. Callahan of Freemont, Calif., and Don R. Callahan of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Violet C. Petrie of Portsmouth and Lorraine Burton of Alexandria, Va.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Nelson F. Fields. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
