James Wingate Nichols, 83, of Ray Farmer Road, died Feb. 9, 1997, in his home.
Mr. Nichols was born in Hertford County, N.C., and was the widower of Willie Belle Harrell Nichols. He was a member of Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church and retired as an assembly line worker from Ford Motor Co. after 23 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Myrell N. Blowe of Aulander and Racine N. White of Kelford; a son, Gerald W. Nichols of Aulander; two sisters, Evie N. Outlaw of Aulander and Ruth N. Hamilton of Portsmouth; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, James Starkey Nichols.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Jeff Bartlett and the Rev. L.C. Joyner. Burial will be in Hall-Rogerson Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and other times at the home of Myrell Blowe, Aulander.
